Head for Bavans, a town on the outskirts of Montbéliard! This is where you will find this semi-buried fortification which dominates the Montbéliard region.

Built between 1874 and 1877, the fort was built on top of the Mont Bart hill and is covered by several metres of earth and vegetation.

During the First World War, a powder magazine was built in the fort to keep ammunition and reserves safe.

Today, Fort Mont-Bart is no longer used for military activities and is managed by the Pays de Montbéliard Agglomération.

The site has been developed so that visitors to the fort can fully enjoy the magnificent panorama and discover this place steeped in history.
