The Lion Half Marathon 2023
An exceptional sporting day on 24 September 2023
Since 1984, the Lion Half Marathon has been a must for French sportsmen and women. In 2023, this mythical race will start in Belfort (Doubs) and reach Montbéliard through 10 municipalities.
For the fourth time, the Lion Half Marathon has been chosen to host the Half Marathon Championships. Make way for the 38th edition!
The Lion Half Marathon 2023
The different races
For the 2023 edition, you will be able to participate in five races on three different courses:
- La Féline Solidaire: a 5 km race exclusively for women, starting in Vieux Charmont.
- The 10 km of the Lion: starting in Châtenois les Forges
- The 21.0975 km: the French half marathon championship and the open half marathon, from Belfort to Montbéliard. The route is rather flat with no particular difference in altitude.
The finish of the half-marathon will be at the foot of the famous Lion of Belfort, created by the sculptor Bertholdi, who is also responsible for the Statue of Liberty in New York. There is no doubt that the atmosphere will be great: nearly 25,000 spectators are expected on the course!
Entertainment throughout the weekend
The festivities begin on Saturday 23 September!
Two Lion Walks will be organised: a 5.6 km walk and a 15 km Nordic walk.
A 2 km cultural walk is also planned in the historic centre of Belfort, starting from the Tourist Office (free of charge).
